Question: Can you get your California criminal arrest expunged? I was arrested for a misdemeanor about a year and a half ago and charges were not filed. I would like to get that arrest gone if possible.
Answer: Technically you would not go through an expungement process for a an arrest. That is a process that is used to help clear a conviction from your record. It is possible to seal an arrest record though, which is the process that you would utilize. I have successfully handled sealing arrest records in cases like yours where my client was arrested for a misdemeanor but charges were never filed and a year has passed.
